Riga’s neighbourhoods

</>

I used to associate Riga’s outer districts with boring architecture, socially dull environments, pensioners seated on benches in the stagnant pond of time. My relationship with the districts was very distant. I have never lived in one, some I had never even visited.

In order to get a new experience, transform my views and better understand the everyday of many of Riga inhabitants, I visited various locations in the outskirts of the city looking for scenes that would allow me to go deeper and to discover the character peculiar to these places and people.
I wanted to portray what I saw and felt in these neighborhoods, approaching the centre of the outskirts from outside. By looking at the everyday scenes with my stranger’s eyes, I tried to capture the unusual and the uncommon.
